-

“Ornamental deciduous shrub with multiple, erect, arching stems that form a loose, round shape. This ornamental native has creamy white, flat-topped flower clusters in spring, giving way to large clusters of dark blue berries in late summer, early fall.

Tolerant of a variety of conditions, Arrowwood Viburnum prefers moist, well drained sites and grows best in full sun to partial shade.

Ripened fruit hangs in clusters and is a favorite of wildlife. The dense foliage provide cover to birds and small woodland mammals, with the leaves, bark, and woody branches being preferred by beaver, deer and rabbit.”

Details

The Santa Rosa Plum is a steadfast tree that delivers a steady pull of wildlife to your land with its early-season fruit production. By early summer, its soft pink flowers give way to vibrant purple-red plums—lush, tangy-sweet fruits that whitetails zero in on when the fields are still green and other forage is just budding.Reaching 15-25’ with a broad, open crown, the Santa Rosa settles into full sun and handles varied soils, from clay to sandy loam, with grit and ease. Its smooth bark and leaves that turn golden-orange in fall add a warm, rugged touch to your property, but the real draw is those early plums, a feast for deer and birds alike. Self-fertile and low-maintenance, it delivers a solid crop solo, though planting another plum nearby will improve the yield. Stand it alone or blend it with a Methley or crabapple for a wildlife buffet that stretches through the seasons. In USDA zones 5-9, the Santa Rosa Plum is a reliable choice for landowners looking to enrich their deer habitat. It’s a quiet performer—early fruit, tough roots, and the deer tracks prove its pull.
