Wildtree Presents: Dr. Deer’s Whitetail World Field Day

What is Field Day?

Field Day is a one-of-a-kind, hands-on learning experience hosted at the Institute for White-tailed Deer Management & Research near Trawick/Nacogdoches, Texas. Led by Dr. James C. “Dr. Deer” Kroll, one of the most recognized authorities on white-tailed deer, this annual event brings landowners, habitat managers, and hunters into the field for live demonstrations and practical, research-backed habitat strategies.

Why Wildtree sponsors it

Wildtree proudly sponsors Field Day because we believe healthier landscapes start with the right plan and the right plants. Our team is on-site to answer questions about deer orchards, food plots, and habitat improvement, and to showcase plant options and tools you can use right away. Plus giveaways and product specials during the event.

What you’ll learn (live, in the field)

  • Thinning forests and brushlands to increase native forage
  • Regenerating oaks and other mast producers to maximize acorn production
  • Prescribed burning
  • Herbicides to improve habitat
  • The Deer Landscape: Setting up sustainable sanctuaries, bedding areas, and travel corridors; a lot more than “hinge-cutting” trees!
  • Design and management of Deer Orchards; providing a suite of mast and fruit producers to maximize energy foods
  • Conducting trail camera surveys, analyzing camera data, and other uses of trail cameras
  • How to design your deer landscape using aerial imagery
  • Hands-on demonstration on how to design a pond for your property
  • Developing edge habitats
  • New fencing strategies for creating “rotation grazing” for your food plots, a demonstration in which participants will get hands-on experience.
  • New food plot varieties for the warm season and the latest cool-season crop developments.
  • Artificial water strategies that really work
  • Latest information on feeds and feeding

What to expect on the day

  • Guided stations & demos: Small groups rotate through outdoor learning stations with Q&A along the way.
  • Accessibility: Utility vehicles are available to assist guests who can’t walk the course.
  • Hearty lunch included: A Texas barbecue lunch is part of your registration.
